➤ Why is the Production Possibilities Curve usually bowed outward?
The PPC bows outward because of increasing opportunity costs. Resources are not equally efficient in producing every good, so reallocating resources causes larger sacrifices as production shifts. Specialization and diminishing returns make the marginal cost of one good rise, producing the familiar concave, or bowed, shape.
